Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Circuit

Welcome to the beautiful world of Nepal Himalayas. After playing in the great folds of the Indian Himalayas; exploring the unknown and stepping into less-treaded corners of Nubra, Suru, Markha Valleys (Ladakh), Prek Chu, Rathong, Yambong Valleys (Sikkim), Tirthan, Beas, Spiti, Kibber, Miyar Valleys, (Himachal Pradesh), Nanda Devi Sanctuary (Garhwal), Dirang Region (Arunachal Pradesh), Jaintia & East Khasi Hills (Meghalaya), Marsyangdi Khola (Annapurna) and Solu Khumbu (Everest) Region of Nepal it is time again to look at Nepal. Some treks are a “Must Have” and we have given into popular demand again; a trek to Everest Base Camp - a trip that will always be “an affair to remember”! We are happy to bring this trek back into our schedule and thank you for your interest in the same.

The trek to Everest Base Camp is ridden with history, adventure and some enigma. The popularity of EBC trek and the mountain itself has shot through the roof due to a popular and controversial book, “Into Thin Air” written by Jon Krakauer and the subsequent records by Anatoli Boukreev (The Climb), David Breashers (High Exposure), and the IMAX film – EVEREST. Beginning 1924, since the time of the disappearance of George Mallory and Andrew Irvine until recently, Climbing Everest has become a fad with the rich and the famous of the western world after it has been proven that such a task can be undertaken even by the un-initiated with the help of extra-ordinary support and lots of monies. Hence of-late a section of Everest Base Camp is like a high altitude inn where other trekkers are no so welcome and “Cold Shouldering” takes a literal meaning.

Though the trek to Everest Base Camp is rated 'Difficult' by us, please note that this is a comfortable trek as many of the creature comforts are taken care of, thanks to the concept of Tea-House trekking prevalent on the popular routes of Nepal. At a price all conveneinces are available right from hot water shower to charging of phones to even making telephone calls over satellite phones. Anyhow that is not what we go there for.

The Everest region offers great joy of walking with nothing less than spectacular views of the highest peak in the world. Everest first appears and dissolves into our view as we take the flight in the Mini Dornier Aircraft and form then on plays hide-n-seek throughout the journey keeping our adrenaline racing with every chance of a peek of the peak. However the complete Mahalangur Himal, Everest a part of which it is, are an exciting range along with its associated valleys and glaciers. We spot Kwangde, Thamserku, Kangtenga, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori, Cholatse, Tawache (Tabhoche), Lobuche, Khumbutse, Lingtren, Makalu and Imja Tse. All these is combined with great food along the way and enriched with interaction with Sherpas and locals for whom Everest is a true Bread Earner. No wonder the sherpas of Solu Khumbu have rejected the plan to make an accessible road to the EBC.
