AltNep Mumbai Trip 5 Jan 12 (C) (79)

We know what a trek can do, our life for one, changed in a flash. It was a long weekend hike to Harishchandragad in the Sahyadri mountains over two decades ago. Right then, it was evident that we wanted to breathe adventure for the rest of our lives. It is what led to our existence.

One doesn’t need to climb a mountain to face challenges. A simple walk, a hike, can teach you a lot. And then there’s folks like us, who love to take the less trodden routes, whether it’s climbing to Harishchandragad via Nalichi Vaat or linking the forts of Alang, Kulang and Madan in a single push. In the right company, we took it a notch higher and headed to the Himalaya, pushing our limits while getting to the Sherpani Col in Nepal and the Parang La that connects Spiti and Ladakh.

In a way, India is blessed, for one can never be too far from the hills. Our hikes are graded, based on your ability, needs and the time on hand. And alongside it, we are always looking at ways to give you a taste of your surroundings, at times quite literally, through the local cuisine on offer. Our aim is to get you to enjoy nature, observe the seasons, gaze in awe at the birds soaring across the valley and soak in the wonders of a sunrise or a sunset. And allow this tranquility to overpower your senses.

“I like it that Odati does not mollycoddle us. We can face the newness of the experience for ourselves, yet there is a calm voice behind us, in the middle of all that silence.”
